Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.

Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.

What Defines the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the party knows exactly where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
  • Kattigan knows the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their position as key figures in House Halovar could assist the group access locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:

  • Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.

This results in them little choice but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Questers and Schemers tables.

Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
