Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from Piastri by just one point after his victory in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in realistic title contention, lying with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before rotating through the gravel trap, and was lucky to get away with just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
