World Series Game 7 Attracts Over 50 Million Viewers In the US, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The thrilling extra-inning contest where the Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a total 51 million watchers across the US, Canada, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball stated this is the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 showdown featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest drew 27.33 million audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series matchup since the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This marks a sixteen percent increase compared to the previous finale between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth position.

International Audience Figures

In Canada, the climactic game averaged 11.6 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English-language program in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million viewers. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – recorded 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The full seven-match series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the total American average reached 16.1M. The total Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09M watchers, an eight percent rise over last year and the network’s strongest postseason performance since 2017.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 various tongues.
